Extensions are an easy way to quickly change your hair and get more length, volume and fullness. With a professional hair extension you can create the hair you dream of – whether you want a long wave, more thickness in the lengths or filling in certain areas. At Green Heads we work with quality hair extensions and carefully selected methods that are gentle on your own hair and give a natural result.

We offer hair extensions with Mago Extensions and BHBD tape extensions.

Consultation before hair extensions

If you are getting extensions for the first time, we always book a consultation before the treatment. During the consultation, we look at your hair and scalp, talk about the result you want and together we choose the right method, length, color and hair type. Then we order the hair especially for you.

Mago – knot-based extensions with a natural feel

With Mago we work with hair extensions from Simply Natural which are attached using the so-called mago technique. The hair is tied with a small cotton knot, without heat, glue or tape. This means that the hair hangs freely and feels very natural and comfortable in everyday life. The hair from Simply Natural is 100% remy, which means that the cuticle is intact and all the hairs lie in the same direction. With Mago, the hair is usually replaced after about three months and is not reused. The hair is available in 30 and 50 cm lengths and can be ordered straight, wavy or curly.

BHBD – tape extensions that blend into the hair

We also work with tape extensions from BHBD. Here, thin strands are attached with tape close to the scalp, which gives a very natural and flexible result that blends into your own hair. The tape attachments are thin and flexible and are available as both standard attachments and so-called invisible attachments, which fit especially well close to the hairline or in thinner hair. The hair is 100% remy and is available in many different lengths, textures and colors. Tape extensions usually need to be moved up every six to ten weeks, while a new full insertion is done about once a year.

Care instructions – how to take care of your extensions

To keep your extensions looking beautiful for as long as possible, proper care is important. Brush your hair every day and always start at the ends before working your way up to reduce wear and tear. When washing your hair, we recommend two to three washes a week, depending on how active you are and how oily your hair is. Wash your scalp gently with your fingertips and avoid rubbing the attachments. Apply conditioner to the lengths and ends, but not directly to the attachment points.

After washing, dry your hair gently and always dry it completely before going to bed. Sleeping with wet hair or hair in a bun increases the risk of tangles. It is advisable to wear a loose braid at night. When blow-drying, cool or lukewarm air is the most gentle, especially if you have tape extensions, as too hot air can affect the attachments. You can style your hair as usual, but be careful near the attachments and always use heat protection.

When bathing, it is a good idea to keep your hair tied up and to wash and dry it thoroughly afterwards. Chlorine can cause discoloration, so avoid soaking your hair in chlorinated water as much as possible. Natural heat does not damage your hair, but you should avoid sitting in a sauna with conditioner in your hair.

Q & A – extensions

How long do hair extensions last?

How long your extensions last depends on the method, how fast your hair grows, and how you care for them. Tape extensions typically need to be moved up every six to ten weeks, while Mago stays in for about three months before being removed and new hair is added. The lifespan of the hair itself is affected by how carefully you follow the care instructions.

Which extension method is right for me?

We will decide this together during the consultation based on your hair type, how much length and volume you want, and how much maintenance you want to put into your extensions.

Do extensions damage my own hair?

When extensions are inserted correctly and cared for properly, they should not damage your own hair. We always work with gentle methods and conduct a consultation before treatment to ensure that your hair and scalp can handle hair extensions. However, improper care at home – such as pulling on the attachments or brushing too hard – can wear down your hair.

Can I dye or tint my extensions?

Extensions can sometimes be colored, but it depends on the hair quality and color of the hair to begin with. Since the hair is already treated, we always recommend that you talk to your hairdresser before coloring at home. Lightening extensions is generally not recommended, while a light tint can sometimes work.

Can I exercise and swim with extensions?

Yes, but be extra careful with aftercare. Sweat, salt water and chlorine can affect both hair and extensions, so wash and dry your hair thoroughly after exercising and swimming. Try to avoid chlorinated water as much as possible as chlorine can discolor your hair.

Can I use regular hair care products?

Please use products that are suitable for extensions. We recommend avoiding strong sulfates, a lot of oils and heavy silicones near the attachments, as they can dissolve tape or make the knots slippery. Please ask us for product recommendations during your visit

How should I sleep with extensions?

Always sleep with dry hair, preferably in a loose braid. This will reduce wear and tear on the lengths and help the attachments last longer.

Are extensions suitable if I have thin or fine hair?

Yes, extensions can often be a good way to create more fullness in thin hair. During the consultation, we assess how much your hair can handle, and choose the method and amount of hair so that the result is natural and gentle.

Can I get extensions if I am losing hair or have scalp problems?

If you have ongoing hair loss, a very sensitive scalp or medical conditions, we need to make an extra careful assessment. In some cases, we recommend waiting with hair extensions until your scalp has recovered.

What does 100% remy hair mean?

This means that all hairs are in the same direction of growth with the cuticle intact. This makes the hair shinier, less tangled and more durable over time.
