Interview with Dorotea Bexander

Dorotea works as a Hairstylist at Green Heads. From the fall of 2020 she will work both in Birkastan and on Södermalm. She has long and solid experience working with plant dyes, which she also keeps up to date with from time to time. By constantly developing, she keeps her love for the hairdressing profession alive and describes herself as a real loop nerd.

How long have you worked as a hairdresser at Green Heads? For two and a half years.

How did interest in green hair care arise? It was my sister who had been to a green salon and she told me how they used different herbs and plants to make a color. That inspired me to apply for my internship at a green salon.

How long have you been in the industry and what has your time in the profession been like? I started high school hairdressing in 2009 and the same year I got a job at a salon, where I worked for 8 years before I quit and became part of the Green Heads team.

Where do you find your inspiration?
Everywhere, I love going to shows and courses but I also get inspiration from watching people in the city or when I ride the subway. Above all, I get ideas from my customers who come with inspiration pictures from social media and Pinterest.

How do you ensure you stay forward-thinking and curious?
Educate yourself all the time, remember that you are never fully educated.

What is your biggest passion in the hairdressing profession? What I am passionate about and truly love are holistic treatments where I get to do everything, bring out the best in the person in my chair. I am also a real curl nerd and find it incredibly fun with different types of highlights.

What hair trend do you hope never comes back? The streaky locks from the early 2000s.... you know, auburn versus light blonde.
