Interview with Joacim Carlsson

Joacim works as a Top trainee at Green Heads Birkastan. He has extensive experience working with natural materials such as plant dye and clay but has not yet completed his journeyman certificate, which he will do at the end of this year. After a break from the hairdressing profession, he decided to resume it just over a year ago and we at Green Heads are sooo happy about that decision. He is an incredibly calm and skilled hairdresser who offers his customers a lovely relaxing moment in combination with a well-crafted hairstyle.

How long have you worked as a hairdresser at Green Heads?

A little more than a year, a year and three months to be exact.

How did interest in green hair care arise?

It all started when I needed an internship and found a salon near me that caught my eye for green hair care, and ever since then I've been hooked.

How long have you been in the industry and what has your time in the profession been like?

I started studying to be a hairdresser in 2010 at John Bauer in Liljeholmen and started my internship at FriEkoSör in 2011. There I also started working extra until I graduated and met Dorotea who also worked there. From 2016-2018 I had a break from the profession, but after several requests from Dorotea I started at Green Heads in the fall of 2018.

Where do you find your inspiration?

Especially on Instagram where I follow several inspiring accounts like @goodbyehorsegirl, @andy_doesyourhair, @hairbyjoec, @localhoney, @edosalonandgallery and all my fine colleagues at Green Heads of course!

How do you ensure you stay forward-thinking and curious?

I make sure to dare to try new things and approaches, mix different techniques and make sure not to get stuck in one way of working. I think it is important to also look at colleagues and find inspiration.

How do you ensure you stay forward-thinking and curious?

I think the most fun thing is making bigger changes, seeing a person transform in front of the mirror. And of course, making every person who sits down in my chair happy!

What hair trend do you hope never comes back?

So the 4-color foil loops of the 90s are preferably something that will never see the light of day again. Huaaah!
