Interview with Olivia Heinbäck

Olivia Heinbäck

Olivia works as a Hairstylist at Green Heads Birkastan. Already in hairdressing school she got a glimpse of alternative ways to work as a hairdresser and since then it has been a given to choose green salons as a workplace. With her positive attitude and never far from laughter, she brightens up the everyday lives of employees and customers.

How long have you worked as a hairdresser at Green Heads?
I've been working at Green Heads for a year and a half!

How did interest in green hair care arise?
It all started when two hairdressers from a green salon came to my high school and gave a lecture about green hair care. I remember thinking that this concept was cutting edge and the future of our industry. So of course I wanted to take part in this and make a difference!

How long have you been in the industry and what has your time in the profession been like?
I started studying to be a hairdresser in 2013 in Växjö and started my internship at a green salon in the spring of 2015. I worked there full-time from 2016-2018 and then moved to Stockholm to become part of Green Heads.
I've never really worked in any other way, except in school. I've chosen to work with an environmental and health perspective my entire career.

Where do you find your inspiration?
I find a lot of inspiration by following and learning from other hairdressers. I like to see how others work! It can be anything from a day with colleagues & courses to Instagram & other social media.
I've always been creative and curious about learning, so that's a big part of why I feel inspired. In our profession, you never really learn, there's always so much to learn! I think that's fantastic.

How do you ensure you stay forward-thinking and curious?
I like to experiment and try a lot of new techniques. Logical thinking & experience motivate me to think ahead. I am not afraid to do new things, because when you do new things, that's when you learn the most!

What is your biggest passion in the hairdressing profession?
I think major changes are super fun, everything from color to haircut.
I am also passionate about having the opportunity to help and make people happy. The social contact gives so much back.

What hair trend do you hope never comes back?

Hmm.. good question. The hockey girl isn't the prettiest thing I've seen haha! So I guess I'll have to choose that one.
